There's always something good happening in Golden.
Don't miss any of it!

The library is open again!  That's good news for those of us who have been driving to Lakewood, BelMar, or other libraries for the past couple of months.  It also means that the library's regular events, such as their "UFO" sessions, Intercambrio/Language Exchange, and library book club can happen in the library, instead of the Mountaineering Center.  The renovation has left us with some nice results, including more self-checkout stations and the ability to get your own books from the hold area.

The next big public event will be the Lions Club 4th of July celebration in Lions Park, at 10th and Illinois.  The party begins at noon and culminates in fireworks.  There are FREE rides for the kids, and of course the Lions Park playground is available.  It's a lovely park for a picnic, with a small pond and giant cottonwoods.  The creek will probably be full of kayakers--always fun to watch.  Bring your own picnic food or buy some from the vendors.  The fireworks begin shortly after sundown.

In the hours before sundown, you might want to walk through the downtown area.  Both Clear Creek Books and Vintner's Cellar are offering live music.  The new ice cream shop, Golden Sweets, will no doubt be doing banner business.  And if you're not really the picnic type, all of the downtown restaurants will be open to provide a cooking-free 4th of July!

Things to do This Week in Golden

Sunday June 29th

  • Matt & Ben
MATT & BEN depicts its Hollywood golden boys – before J-Lo, before Gwyneth, before “Project Greenlight,” before Oscar…before anyone actually gave a damn.
When the screenplay for Good Will Hunting drops mysteriously from the heavens, the boys realize they’re being tested by a Higher Power.  This irreverent look at Hollywood's elite will leave you gasping for air as you laugh the night away!   Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 6:00pm.
